We Can Weekend

2010

The We Can Weekend camp, held

on Oct. 9th - 10th, hosted several

people this year who are still actively receiving treatment and we're especially proud to wrap these folks in Hope,

the theme of this year's camp.

Jim Linderman, Coordinator of Cancer Center Support Services, and his

wife Trish, a cancer survivor lead

camp participants in a song.

Jim chose the blue and gold

scarf for Trish who is a Michiganer.

Mary Lou Schingler wears a blue

scarf she received, and has chosen

a purple scarf to present to

Dorene Tomeir who looks on.

Joyce Campbell has just received a lovely gray scarf from Bettye Marie Wilson

who is wearing the multi-color

scarf presented to her earlier.

Tell 10!

"Tell 10" campaign - when you

read this we would like to ask

you to share our link with 10

of your friends and family

members (more if you will), especially those who

knit and crochet.

If just one of those you tell

will make a scarf,

I'm sure we could add

another cancer center, or a homeless shelter

to our list of recipients.

Donations

In Memoriam :

On August 17, 2007 my sister

Pam Gordon lost her battle

with non-skin related

Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Pam had just celebrated her

51st birthday at the end of

March.  She will be greatly

missed, and remembered

with much fondness as an

incredibly strong woman

and a very generous person.

The world will be the poorer

for her loss.

Another Goal to Meet

As of today 8/1/11 we are in

short supply of scarves

made with the novelty yarns as

well as lacy styles.  These are

always popular with the ladies

and we will appreciate

each and every one that we can

provide to our recipients.

Thank  you to each and every

one of you who made this

possible!!!

Scarves From The Heart

presented each of the

49 cancer survivors

present with a scarf.

The weather was cool, but

this baby was kept warm with

one of the scarves.

Recipients chose their favorite.

A Special Thanks

to Jeanne, Susan and Dale

for taking over in my absence.

In Memoriam :

On December 19, 2009 my  daughter, Kathryn Walker, lost her battle with breast cancer.  Kathryn would have celebrated her 46th birthday on January 3rd.  Kathryn fought a most courageous battle, proving her determination to survive, time and again.  She always had a smile on her face and was truly an example of grace and dignity.  Our loss here on earth, is heaven's gain.

Our current need . . .

We hope to take part in the

Tribute Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 5th

at St. Joseph's. as it's

a wonderful gathering of

those who've fought cancer and those who are

still fighting, and one more

chance to wrap them in

Hope!
