Spa Day 2010

St. Joseph's Regional Cancer Center held a Spa Day for cancer survivors on May 1, 2010.  The women were treated to a

Continental Breakfast where

they arrived to find a scarf

from Scarves From The Heart

on each chair.  Each person

was allowed to sit where the

scarf of their choice was on

the chair.

Shown above are many of the recipients

wrapping themselves in some of the 100

scarves donated for the occasion.

Tell 10!

"Tell 10" campaign - when you

read this we would like to ask

you to share our link with 10

of your friends and family

members (more if you will), especially those who

knit and crochet.

If just one of those you tell

will make a scarf,

I'm sure we could add

another cancer center, or a homeless shelter

to our list of recipients.

Donations

Recently we have had

inquiries about making

donations to

Scarves From The Heart

We do accept donations

of clean labeled yarn,

however at this time

we are not accepting

monetary donations.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you to each and
every one of our
wonderful donors.
Without each of you
none of this
would be possible.
Spring has sprung
in Northern California but
winter will be on it's way
before we know it.  Let's
all make an extra scarf
to keep a homeless
person warm this
coming winter
We now have a
Scarves From The Heart
group on Ravelry
If you are a knitter or
crocheter and haven't yet signed up for this new web community you may want to check it out.
In Memoriam :
On August 17, 2007 my sister Pam Gordon lost her battle with non-skin related Squamous Cell Carcinoma.  Pam had just celebrated her 51st birthday at the end of March.  She will
be dearly missed, and remembered
with much fondness as an incredibly strong woman and a very generous person.  The world will be the poorer
for her loss.
 News
In Memoriam :
On December 19, 2009 my  daughter, Kathryn Walker, lost her battle with breast cancer.  Kathryn would have celebrated her 46th birthday on January 3rd.  Kathryn fought a most courageous battle, proving her determination to survive, time and again.  She always had a smile on her face and was truly an example of grace and dignity.  Our loss here on earth, is heaven's gain.
Our current need . . .
September's Gathering of Friends event will be here in just over three months, and preparations are already under way for that day.  We give out 50 - 75 scarves to both men and women so every type and style is appropriate.  There will be someone who will treasure each scarf donated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have now donated

over 1,300 scarves

to cancer patients

and the homeless.
