Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where do I mail scarves to? A. Please mail all scarves to: Scarves From The Heart P.O. Box 78104 Stockton, CA 95267-1404 Q. Can I donate yarn? A. Please email me before sending yarn. If storage space is available we'd love to accept donations of yarn which still have labels attached. It is important that we know the fiber content of the yarns used to help avoid possible allergic reactions in our recipients. To accomplish this we label each scarf with the fiber content and laundry instructions. Q. How will I know when the scarves I sent have arrived? A. If you include your email address in the package you will receive notification that the scarves have arrived.
Q. If I live in the area, is there a place I can deliver the scarves? A. Yes, if you email me I will make arrangements for you to deliver the scarves to me or to pick them up from you so you don't have to pay postage. Q. Can I deliver them to the cancer center myself? A. It is preferrable to have the scarves come through Scarves From The Heart so that each has our special tag on it. It also minimizes the number of deliveries being made and the time the staff spends on "intake". Q. If you're based in California, why do people need scarves, isn't it hot there? A. Cancer patients tend to get chilled easily while receiving chemo treatments in spite of the hot weather that California is known for. Q. What size should I make the scarves? A. Our guidelines are very simple. You may make it any size you like. Use your own taste as a guideline, someone will be sure to like it. Q. Do you provide men scarves also. A. Yes, we do, and there is always a need for scarves appropriate for men. We find there are several ways to make them gender neutral, 1) simple stitch patterns 2) fiber choice and 3) color.
