Steps Scarf

This is an improvised pattern by Shelly Heikkinen

The stitch pattern comes from the 365 Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar, March 27.  I changed the starting row to their row 6.

Yarn:  any DK weight yarn with a smooth texture

Needles: Size US 8

Size: approx 4” wide.

Pattern note:  Mark the right side of your item, and on the back side always knit the knits and purl the purls within each 4 row pattern.

Cast on (I use a knitted cast on) 34 sts (any multiple of 4 plus 2 will work) do not count this as row 1.

Row 1: P4, K4 (4 times), end P2

Row 2: K2, *P4, K4, repeat from * across

Row 3: repeat row 1

Row 4: repeat row 2 (you've now completed one 'pattern')

Row 5: P2, *K4, P4, repeat from * across

Row 6: K4, P4 to last two stitches, end with K2

Row 7: Repeat row 5

Row 8: Repeat row 6

Row 9:  K4, P4 to last two stitches, end K2

Row 10:  P2, *K4, P4, repeat from * across

Row 11: Repeat row 9

Row 12: Repeat row 10

Row 13: K2, *P4, K4, repeat from * across

Row 14: K4, P4 to last two stitches, end with P2

Row 15: Repeat row 13

Row 16: Repeat row 14

Repeat these 16 rows to desired length.

Cast off, weave in ends and enjoy.

Basket o' Berries Lace Scarf

This is an improvised pattern by Jan Hogan

Materials:

Yarn: Plymouth Fantasy Naturale Solid

color shown #6092 Hot Pink or Raspberry

Needles: US size 11

Pattern:

CO 17 sts

Row 1: k2, yo, k2tog, (yo, k1, k2tog) x2, yo, ssk, k2, yo, k2tog, k1

Row 2: p5, k7, p5

Row 3: k5, p7, k5

Repeat these 3 rows for the pattern to the desired length. Add knotted fringe to

each end to finish the look.

This makes for a reversible, textural, squooshy light scarf.  Lots of movement - reminded me of the raspberries I shake up in the colander for my breakfast.

This pattern was made especially for the Scarves from the Heart organization.

Aran Print
100% Wool Knit Scarf
in seed stitch

This pattern was generously donated by:

Crystal Palace Yarns.

Thank you Susan (Owner of CPY)

Materials
2 balls Aran Print Wool  (perfect for fall - 100% wool)
shown in printed color #102

Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles or DAISY Needles US#9 (5.5mm)
[Cost under $15 retail.]

This pattern will also work for
Aran (solid colors) and Aran Marl
(click the links to see the color cards for each yarn)

Pattern:
Seed Stitch: (on odd number of sts)
Row 1: K1, P1 to end of rowing ending K1
Row 2: same as Row 1
(you are doing a K on a P and vice versa)

Instructions:
Cast on 19 sts.
Work 8 rows in Seed Stitch
Work 2 rows in garter stitch (that is, knit 2 rows)
Repeat this sequence until you run out of yarn.
Cast off loosely.

(Note1: when joining the 2nd ball of yarn, just overlap the yarn at one edge for a length to allow knitting of 3-5 stitches and continue knitting. Trim ends when scarf is complete.)

[ Note2: I knit this scarf while watching Netflix movies and I did not always count carefully the 8 rows of Seed Stitch, so sometimes my scarf has 6 rows, sometimes 7 rows, sometimes 8 rows between the 2 rows of garter stitch. It looks fine, so suit your own knitting personality on how much you need to have exactly 8 rows. - Susan ]

Badia's Machine Knit Scarf

Designed by Badia A. Ali

Note:  With some experimenting this scarf could easily be handknit.

        Materials:

  • Innovations circular knitting machine or if you don't have it, you can knit by hand or by your knitting machine a tube of approximately 45 needles of circumference
  • 100gr of Soft Acrylic pistachio color yarn

    Directions:

  • Put together two threads of the pistachio color and a golden thread
  • Cast on 45 needles using Innovation circular knitting machine.
  • Start knitting and keep on simple stitch till the pistachio color is done this will give you an approximate length of 160cm,
  • Join or knot the orange yarn to the pistachio
  • Hold together the orange with the golden thread
  • Continue knitting till the 40 grams of orange is done, this will give you an approximate length of 40 cm orange tube.
  • Hold the first end of the scarf while the scarf is still in the machine and join pearls between each stitch while closing the green side edge.
  • Bind off the other side of the scarf (in orange) and pull tight or tuck the orange end .
  • Take it of the machine
  • Fold the orange area in half
  • Tuck the two layers together
  • Form a string of 20 pearls on an orange yarn
  • Go around the tucked area with the pearl string and get back to the starting point and knot tight the pearls, forming a ring of pearls around the tucked area
  • with the same orange yarn while its still stitched to the pearls, form a ring of 10 pearls and fix it or knot it to the same pearls edge.
  • DONE!

Now you have a fine scarf, new, unique, simple, practical, soft, delicate,   creative as you can wear it so many ways.
